Example of Loyalty Marketing – ATandT Uverse

Last summer we switched from Cablevision TV & Internet to AT&T’s Uverse package because we found we could get comparable service at a 30% discount.  Many months later I can truly say that I cannot see a difference in the internet performance or TV quality save for a few missing TV channels which we happily live without.  I know a few, and expect that there are many others in this area, who also jumped ship and went to AT&T for the same reason.

Now this is where it gets interesting.

Cablevision wants their former customers back and has resorted to a tried and true method for customer win-back.   Read the rest of this entry ?

Finding Loyalty in a commodity business

We’re up for our annual home heating oil contract renewal which means one thing…it’s time to start shopping around for the best price among the local providers.  You can’t get more commoditized than oil, and I can verify that local providers don’t add any additional value to their product/service offering beyond the contracted once per month fill-up.  So, why should we stick with them come contract renewal time?  There’s no reason, really.   Read the rest of this entry ?
